Who we are
We are Shenae and Ronnie Frazier. Shenae grew up in a small town in Montana and Ronnie grew up in rural Virginia. We met as teens when Shenae moved to Virginia - we were neighbors.
We got married in 2010 and between then and 2020 we moved around through several places. In the spring of 2020 we found ourselves living in suburban Maryland, just 38 miles from the center of DC. Resources started to become scarce, jobs became unstable, and in the summer of 2020 we moved to north western Virginia just outside of a decent sized town with good amenities, but also a decent mix of farmland.
Food scarcity and the unreliability of what you could get from stores pushed Shenae to ask Ronnie that question that changed our lives from that moment on:
“Want to homestead with me?” - Shenae (November 2020)
Boy, what a slippery slope that question was.
2021
January: We got a pig
April: we tilled a 4,000 sqft garden, and got a small laying flock of chickens
May: We got our first flock of meat birds (which we processed in August)
June: Shenae took a canning class hosted by Amy Fewell
August: Shenae started taking classes and became certified in Pasture Management
Fall 2021: we had an abundant harvest! Shenae also accepted a new '“day job” and we decided that we would move in 2022.
January 2022 we moved to rural West Virginia, and started everything fresh! We continued to grow everything we could, and rebuilt things from the ground up.
Early in 2024 we officially filed and became a business! We have worked really hard to grow food for our community that we feel really proud of.
